The Americaโ€™s Cup Transforms the Gulf of Naples: September 2026 Regatta Guide

Naples is back at the center of the sailing world! From September 24 to 27, 2026, the waters of our magnificent Gulf will host the second Preliminary Regatta of the 38th Americaโ€™s Cup.

If you are planning a trip to Naples or are already staying with us at Interno16HolidayHome, get ready to experience four days of pure adrenaline, cutting-edge technology, and spectacular action on the water.

Flying Over the Water: What Will We See?

During this Neapolitan stage, official teams (including the local favorite Luna Rossa) alongside young talents from the Youth & Women categories will race aboard ultra-fast AC40s.

These hydrofoiling one-design monohulls don’t just sail: they fly above the water at astonishing speeds reaching over 80 km/h (more than 45 knots).

  • The schedule: Thrilling close-quarters fleet racing (Fleet Races) from Thursday to Saturday, followed by a dramatic final match race (Match Race) on Sunday between the top two crews.
  • The view: The boats will race just off the Caracciolo Waterfront, offering an unforgettable spectacle with Mount Vesuvius and Castel dell’Ovo as the backdrop.

Where to Experience the Event: The Waterfront Race Village

The heart of the action on land will be the official Race Village set up along Lungomare Caracciolo.

  • Free Entry: Access to the Race Village is completely free for all visitors.
  • Giant Screens & Live Shows: You can watch the races live with expert commentary and enjoy cultural events, music, and talks late into the evening.

Summer in Naples 2026

estate a napoli 2026

Cinema, music, theatre, and dance are the four great pillars that will shape the city’s cultural program for Estate a Napoli 2026 (Summer in Naples 2026). This historic festival, promoted and funded by the Comune di Napoli (Municipality of Naples), will offer a journey through sounds, images, and live performances across most of the urban territory, featuring over eighty high-quality events designed for residents and tourists alike.

CINEMA

The opening of the review will be dedicated to the magic of the silver screen with Lโ€™infinito viaggiare: cinema al Parco Virgiliano (The Infinite Journey: Cinema at Virgiliano Park), organized by CasaCinema. The event is scheduled from July 2 to 5 at 9:00 PM in the Virgiliano Park in Posillipo. Four masterpieces spanning continents, eras, and imaginations will come to life on the big screen: Buena Vista Social Club by Wim Wenders, Divorzio allโ€™italiana (Divorce Italian Style) by Pietro Germi, The Rocky Horror Picture Show by Jim Sharman, and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud.

The summer film selection will be further enriched by five additional projects selected through the Cultura Napoli 2026 public notice, all featuring screenings at 9:00 PM. Napoli contemporanea (Contemporary Naples), running from July 20 to September 17 at Villa Floridiana, will showcase some of the most significant works of recent Neapolitan cinema. This cinematic journey, curated by Zeus Group, is dedicated to empowerment and the complexity of the female universe, featuring guests such as director James La Motta and actresses Roberta Misticone and Margherita Romeo.

MUSIC

As per tradition, the beating heart of Estate a Napoli will be the monumental courtyard of Castel Nuovo, which from July 16 to 25 will host the new edition of Musica al Castello (Music at the Castle). This format, part of the Napoli Cittร  della Musica project, returns following its major success in 2025. Fourteen concerts scheduled at 9:00 PM will build an ideal bridge between contemporary sonic avant-garde and the evocative sounds of world music. The headline guest is a true legend of international music: singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega, icon of timeless hits like Luka and Tomโ€™s Diner.

The other events at Musica al Castello are equally outstanding: Casino Royale will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their masterpiece album Sempre piรน vicini in Naples; Roberto Gatto’s jazz superband, alongside Pietro Tonolo, will pay tribute to giants Miles Davis and John Coltrane; Quintorigo with John De Leo and Motta will deliver the finest rock songwriting; Altea and Sara Gioielli will alternate folk music with classical arrangements; Bassolino will fuse jazz-funk with urban grooves, while the Neapolitan rap scene will be represented by Anastasio, Oyoshe, and Speaker Cenzou. Lastly, space will be given to Balkan traditions with the Barcelona Gipsy BalKan Orchestra, alongside a focus on the ethno-funk of Mario Mario and the pop-electronic experimentation of Gioia Lucia.

Music will also take center stage for the grand finale of Estate a Napoli, entrusted to the 24th edition of the Notte della tammorra (Night of the Tammorra). The bill features two major concerts at Rotonda Diaz starting at 8:30 PM: La notte dei tamburi di Napoli (The Night of Naples’ Drums) on September 11, and Omaggio a Roberto De Simone: la tradizione in Campania (Tribute to Roberto De Simone: Tradition in Campania) on September 12. Completing the program are six days of workshops dedicated to folk dances and frame drums: from September 7 to 10 at the headquarters of Fondazione Il Canto di Virgilio, and on September 11 and 12 at Rotonda Diaz from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

The 2026 cast of the Notte della tammorra, led by Carlo Faiello, will include Lina Sastri, Flo, Irene Scarpato, Fiorenza Calogero, Tony Esposito, Ciccio Merolla, Maurizio Capone, Ars Nova Napoli, Simona Boo, Marianita Carfora, Tony Cercola, Gennaro Tesone of Almamegretta, and Lavinia Mancusi, together with Biagio De Prisco โ€“ La Voce della Tradizione, Paranza di Giugliano di Febbraio, Paranza โ€™O Lione, Paranza di Terzigno, Paranza dei Monti Lattari, Tarantella di Montemarano, Tarantella Cilentana, Tarantella del Gargano, and Tarantella di Carpino.

From the Heart of Naples to the Hilltop: A Guide to Discovering Vomero from Interno16HolidayHome

Staying at Interno16HolidayHome, means being completely immersed in the most authentic, historic, and vibrant soul of Naples. However, the beauty of this city also lies in its incredible contrasts. That is why today we want to take you on a journey to discover a completely different side of Naples: the elegant, Liberty-style, and panoramic district of Vomero.

If you want to treat yourself to a day of tree-lined avenues, shopping, historic buildings, and some of the most iconic views of the gulf, here is the perfect itinerary for an unforgettable day trip, designed specifically for our guests.

How to Get from Via dei Tribunali to Vomero

Vomero sits on the city’s main hill, but reaching it from Interno16HolidayHomeย is incredibly easy and serves as a memorable part of the journey itself. You have two highly convenient options:

  1. The Art Subway (Line 1): Take a short walk to either the Duomo or Museo station. Hop on the train and get off at Vanvitelli. Beyond the convenience, you will get to admire the stations themselves, which double as world-renowned contemporary art masterpieces (most notably, the award-winning Toledo station).
  2. The Central Funicular (Funicolare Centrale): If you fancy a stroll down Via Toledo first, you can catch the Central Funicular at Piazzetta Augusteo. In just a few minutes of a scenic uphill cable car ride, you will find yourself gliding above the city, transitioning from the bustling historic center to the quiet of the hill.

What to See in Vomero: History and Postcard Views

Vomero boasts some of the highest and most spectacular vantage points in Naples. Here are the landmarks you absolutely shouldn’t miss:

The San Martino Belvedere and Castel Santโ€™Elmo

This is the highest point of the neighborhood, offering a breathtaking 180-degree view of the Gulf, Mount Vesuvius, and Capri.

  • Castel Santโ€™Elmo: A medieval fortress carved directly into the volcanic tuff rock. Head up to the Piazza dโ€™Armi for a 360-degree walkway. From up here, if you look straight down, you can clearly spot Spaccanapoli and the area surrounding Via dei Tribunali: a perfectly straight line cutting right through the ancient city.
  • Certosa di San Martino: Located just below the castle, this stunning Baroque monastery features a must-visit museum, beautiful royal gardens, and one of the most important collections of historic nativity scenes (presepi) in the world.ย

Villa Floridiana

For a relaxing break surrounded by greenery, step into Villa Floridiana, a large public park hosting a splendid neoclassical residence. Walk all the way to the viewpoint at the back of the park: the sight of the sea framed by maritime pines is pure poetry.

Shopping and Strolling Among Liberty Palaces

While Via dei Tribunali is the realm of traditional craftsmanship and street food, Vomero is the heart of elegant shopping and upscale design. The ideal starting point is Piazza Vanvitelli, with its signature octagonal shape.

From here, two beautiful pedestrian areas branch out, perfect for a relaxing stroll:

  • Via Scarlatti: Elegant, tree-lined, and packed with major brand boutiques, outdoor cafรฉs, and street performers.
  • Via Luca Giordano: Another premier shopping street where you can wander among shop windows and gorgeous Liberty and Art Nouveau buildings dating back to the late 19th century.

Heading Back to Interno 16: The Secret of the Pedamentina

To end your day beautifully and head back to your “home away from home” on Via dei Tribunali, we highly recommend skipping public transit on the way down. Instead, take the Pedamentina di San Martino, one of the oldest and most fascinating urban staircases in Naples.

With its 414 steps (entirely downhill!), it will gently lead you back toward the historic center. Along the way, it reveals hidden rural landscapes, urban gardens, and stunning vistas that change with every turn. You will emerge near Corso Vittorio Emanuele, allowing for an easy, pleasant walk back to the heart of the ancient center, ready to unwind at Interno16HolidayHome.

๐Ÿ’ก Our Tip: While it is a very enjoyable downhill walk, we highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes to make the most of the journey!

Vomero showcases the more residential and aristocratic side of Naples. It is the perfect place to slow down the pace, breathe in the fresh sea breeze from above, and capture the definitive postcard photo of your trip before returning to experience the vibrant energy of the historic center. Enjoy your walk!

The Fontanelle Cemetery: A Complete Guide

Dominik Matus, CC BY-SA 4.0 , via Wikimedia Commons

Naples is finally reclaiming one of its most iconic and mysterious treasures. After much anticipation, the Fontanelle Cemetery (Cimitero delle Fontanelle) officially reopens its doors on April 18, 2026. If you are planning a trip to Southern Italy, this is the news youโ€™ve been waiting for: you havenโ€™t truly seen Naples until youโ€™ve descended into the tuff-stone heart of the Rione Sanitร .

In this guide, weโ€™ll cover everything you need to know about the reopening and why staying at Interno16HolidayHome is the smartest choice for your Neapolitan adventure.

The Grand Reopening: April 18, 2026

Following extensive restoration and safety upgrades, the Fontanelle Cemetery returns with a fresh look while preserving its ancient, haunting charm.

  • Opening Event: On Saturday, April 18, the reopening will be celebrated with a “community march” starting from Largo Totรฒ at 9:00 AM.
  • Free Entry: For the opening day only, access is free until 6:00 PM (subject to capacity limits).
  • Regular Schedule: Starting April 19, 2026, the site will be open daily for visitors.

Pro Tip: Booking is now mandatory. Official website https://cimiterodellefontanelle.it/

Why is the Fontanelle Cemetery So Unique?

This is not just an ossuary; it is a place where the thin veil between life and death fades away. It is the birthplace of the “anime pezzentelle” (poor souls) cult. For centuries, Neapolitans “adopted” nameless skulls (capuzzelle), cleaning them and offering prayers in exchange for protection or miracles.

As you walk through the vast tuff caves, look for the famous Capuzzella di Lucia or the Skull of the Captain, surrounded by small gifts and stories that seem frozen in time.

How to Get There and Ticket Prices

The site is located at Via Fontanelle 80, in the vibrant heart of the Rione Sanitร  district.
